Where is the best place to watch the sun set?

When it comes to watching the sun set, I am always in awe of something so naturally beautiful, who knew the world could create so many beautiful and fantastic colours and disappear so quickly into complete darkness?

I have been fortunate enough to watch the sun go down all around the world and in many different places in the same country.  Australia is probably the country that I have had the opportunity to watch the sun set more than once and the best place to watch the sun go down here is on the West coast.  So if you are ever in Perth (Freemantle to be specific) then go down to the harbor, grab yourself some fish and chips and say goodbye to the day in the most spectacularly perfect way possible.

That isn't to say that you shouldn't take advantage of watching the sun go down on the East coast, but if you are ever up early enough (or more likely late enough), then I recommend you go and watch the sun rise from a number of many beaches in Sydney and all the way along the coast.

Here are some of my favourite Australian sunsets from the East coast for you...

Sunsets always look different and have a new memory attached to them.  Some are more spectacular than others too and not always because of the way that they look, but because of the person you are watching them with.

Some of my favourite sunsets, I will never be able to share with you, because the best ones mean you can't draw your eyes away from them, even for a second to take a photograph and if they are that good then really you shouldn't ever look away.

So in no particular order, here are some of my absolutely favourite sunsets of all time in various stages of going down.  Starting with the beautiful Paris, right after a rain storm, I absolutely love the beautiful colours tinting the rooftops of the Parisian apartments.

Where is the best place you have watched the sun go down?  I would love to see your favourite sun sets too!

  1. One of the best sunset in the world is in Clevedon UK. Unfortunately, these beautiful sunsets are a
result of the fumes from the concrete factory across the channel in Wales! :-)
