The Nutcracker

Christmas isn't complete without a trip to the Panto, the Theatre or the Ballet.  This year I did dip my toes into the world of panto, but it was so bad my two year old nephew insisted on leaving and I completely agreed.

The day after though I was treated to the most amazing performance at the Ballet.  I was introduced to The Nutcracker in my first year of school, when I was a sugar plum fairy and every since I have wanted to see it at the ballet.

So when I was offered some tickets to go and see the show this Christmas I jumped at the chance.  I took with me one of my mini ballet fans and her mum, my friend Jodie, and Tegan was mesmorised the whole way through.  The show was beautiful and I loved seeing Tegan so enthralled by the performance.

As the curtains came down for the half time interval, we couldn't wait to go and find some ice cream and to see the sugar plum fairies dancing in the second half.

Jodie and I were really looking forward to seeing the dance of the Sugar plum fairies and after the show when we asked Tegan what her favourite part was she agreed with us!  It seems no matter how old you are the sugar plum fairies are always our favourites.

If you haven't got time to go and see a performance soon though, not to worry there is always Swan Lake instead which is running a little longer into the New Year.

Here are some photos of the performance to leave you with though, but before you look, make sure you are listening to this.

Have you seen a Ballet this Christmas or thinking about it now?

  1. Oh my gosh what an incredible building! I love The Nutcracker, though haven't yet had the chance to see it live. Hopefully I can tick that off this year!
