Livng the dream

Do you want to live the dream or someone else's?

This is a question I was asked recently.  What they meant was, do I want to spend my time working hard to make my dream come true or someone else's?

This is something that I have thought a bit about this weekend, after going to see a burlesque show in the Hippodrome Theartre.

I arrived in style (a black cab) with my friends and entered the casino where out coats were taken and we were escorted to the bar, where we were to wait to be seated at our table for our show.

Front of house greeted us beautifully, the door men were polite and the ladies on the cloak room and reception were lovely.  However, I couldn't help but feel that this is where this amazing service stopped.

I'm not going to write a list here of things that went wrong, but here is a snippet of one of the dances we saw before the actual show.

On my way home from my friend Siobhan's this weekend, I picked up some magazines to do some client research and ended up reading two separate articles one in Glamour and another The Look magazine, about two successful business women.

I have always known that I wanted to own my own business, but I have never really thought about what that business should be - only that it should combine something I am passionate about, with something that doesn't already exist out there.

Currently, I think that there is a trend in retro events, fashion and TV programs.  I for one have definitely bought into all of these new things and have had a love for them from a very young age.  History has always been something I had a passion for and the other was entertaining - so I think this is why I like west end shows, Downton Abbey, Mr Selfrdige, etc... the list could go on and on.

I'm not going to tell you what my idea is yet, because well it's not quiet taken shape
yet, but hopefully it will be something that in the near future everyone will be able to enjoy.  Hopefully this time next year though, a few of my dreams will have come true.

Don't forget to follow me here too...

  1. I love Dita von Teese, she is beautiful, so a burlesque show in her style would be amazing. I love anything historical too. Do you watch The Paradise as well?

  2. Good luck with your venture! The start of this post really made me think... at this point, I don't even know *what* the dream would be, so I can't really tell if I'm working hard in uni to live my own dream or the bog standard "great media job dream". I wish there wasn't such pressure to have to get a job to start earning to live once I finish uni because what I really want is more time to figure out what I truly want to pursue!
